At the midpoint of the tribulation the beast installs an image of himself in the temple. He demands that the image be worshipped.

The image is possessed with a demon and therefore has the ability to dialogue with earthdwellers.

An additional possibility is the sale and distribution of replicas.

The replicas could have the technology to communicate with the image and the idolaters.

Revelation 13:15

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

A careful review of the greek shows that spirit is given to the image - not life -

only God gives life.

This is the result - And he had power to give spirit unto the image of the beast ...
