Revelation 16:21
And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, [every stone] about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the stones; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.
The penalty for blaspheming GOD under the law in the old testament was stoning.
It is interesting that God stones the blaspheming earthdwellers as part of the last
judgment in the great tribulation. The greek words for hail stones used in Revelation 16:21 are
chalaza and lithinos - these words are normally used to mean true rock material not ice stones.
The rocks in this verse weigh a talent,
which is about 100 pounds - a salvo/bombardment of
100 pound boulders would qualify as exceeding great.
